On April 30, we opened the doors to The Bowery Company’s first showroom in Riyadh, a moment that felt both like the culmination of a long-held dream, and the beginning of something entirely new. More than a launch, it was a return. A quiet but powerful arrival into a place that has held a piece of my heart for nearly a decade.
Just a week earlier, I had the honor of delivering the first-ever TED Talk held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. To speak about transformation, reinvention, and the courage to begin again, just days before our showroom opened, was deeply personal. Because this dream didn’t begin in design. It began in finance, and in a spark of purpose I didn’t fully understand at the time.
In October 2016, while still working full-time in banking and building The Bowery Company after hours, I was invited live on Al Arabiya News Channel to speak about a historic milestone: Saudi Arabia’s first-ever international bond issuance, which raised $17.5 billion. It was just five months after the launch of Vision 2030, and the ambition in the air was unmistakable. As I sat there describing the scale of the deal, I felt something shift. A seed was planted. I knew, one day, I had to be part of this transformation.
The Bowery Company was born from that kind of belief: bold, personal, and rooted in purpose. Our mission is simple: to Bring Design Home to the Middle East. What began with private clients has grown into a hybrid design house serving both B2C and B2B: homes, hotels, restaurants, offices, and visionary giga projects under Vision 2030.
And now, we stand in Riyadh. Saudi Arabia is not just another chapter. Vision 2030 is one of the most ambitious transformations of our time. We are deeply honored to be part of it, bringing timeless, honest design to the forefront of a bold new era.
To anyone quietly holding a dream: this is your reminder. Sometimes it begins with a spark. Sometimes it takes nine years. But what is meant for you will find its way. Keep showing up. Keep building.
