Ethiopian Consulate General in Lebanon Celebrated 18th National Flag Day of Ethiopia

Ethiopian Consulate General in Lebanon celebrated the 18th National Flag Day of Ethiopia on 13 October 2025 at its premises in Beirut, under the motto:  “Our flag for Ethiopia’s eminence, unity, sovereignty, and Renaissance!”

The event featured the hoisting of the National Flag and the singing of the National Anthem

In his remarks, Mr. Getachew Uta, chargé d’affaires of the Consulate General, described the Ethiopian Flag as a powerful symbol of freedom, sovereignty, unity and heroism as well as an emblem of Pan-Africanism and African independence, deeply rooted in the country’s legacy of successfully resisting colonial ambitions. He urged Ethiopians to unite with a spirit of collaboration to accelerate national development and prosperity.

Ethiopia has celebrated National Flag Day annually since 2008, following the country’s millennium celebration in 2007. It is observed every year on the first Monday of the Ethiopian month of Tikimt (October) and organized under the auspices of the House of Peoples’ Representatives as an essential symbol of the nation’s sovereignty and unity.
